Louisburgh is an ideal location for a holiday to the West of Ireland.
The village is situated on the coast road between Westport and Leenane - The Northern gateway to CONNEMARA. This road takes you along the famine trail where many perished during the Irish famine in search for food.
The road also travels along by the shore of Doo Lough and along the cliffs of Killary harbour - Irelands only fiiord, before reaching Leenane - the entrance to Connemara.
Louisburgh is also noted for it's numerous sandy beaches and for it's offshore Islands of Innish Turk and Clare Islands. The ferry port of Roonagh is open for daily trips to these islands.
